Growing by Connecting

What a great way to start the day!  Our "New Members Breakfast" was the place to be. We had the pleasure of spending time learning about our new members.  Seven of our new members were able to attend, and we were able to learn more about them. And the Board of Directors enjoyed sharing the many facets of NAWBO.  The reasons for joining vary, but the common thread is about growth; the desire for personal and/or business growth.  The new members joining us for breakfast were:

     - Emily Barany - Emily Barany Consulting
     - Heather Dawe - Academic Improvement Consulting
     - Jessie Rushing - J.R. Consulting
     - Joanne Crowley - AXA Advisors, LLC
     - Marianne Knight - Ventura County Senior Living, Inc.
     - Marla Kengen - Skincare by Marla
     - Sue Osborn - Independent Capital Management

Whether you have been with NAWBO for years, or are brand new to NAWBO, we are all looking for opportunities to learn and develop our professional and personal skills.  We’re looking for support, to be inspired, and to have exposure. We’re looking for growth.

We learn, we teach, we share.  It’s not about one person, but it’s about us all.  And every step of the way….we grow.

Our meetings are open to everyone.  Guests may visit twice before making a decision to join.  We welcome business owners and supporting members.  We also welcome both corporate and strategic partners.  We look forward to welcoming you at our next event!

President's Message

"May Day, and the Coming of Spring!"

debbi

May Day, the first of May, is celebrated around the world. In many countries it is a celebration of spring and the coming of summer. It is celebrated with an abundance of spring flowers. In communist and socialist countries, it is a celebration for the workers.

In some countries it is celebrated as part of a one to three day holiday. Of particular note, it is not a national holiday in the United States, except in Hawaii where it is known as "Lei Day”.

I always think of spring cleaning at this time of year. We clean out all those old emails and notes of things that we meant to do but just haven’t gotten around to, as yet. We are energized with a new, fresh and clearer picture of where we are heading and the things that we need to do. What do you do for your spring cleaning?

We have many events coming up in May and June that will help you with your business decisions. Please check the upcoming events on our Events Calendar, especially our Public Policy Days in Sacramento in June. Walk with us through the halls of the Capitol as we meet with our representatives. It is a worthwhile trip, even if you can only come for the day. It will be a memorable time and one that will leave an impression on you.

Happy May Day!
